- The problem presented in the story that the incoming Hurricane will cause floods, and other massive damages when it hits the Carolinas.
- When it comes to Hurricanes everyone in the area is affected. Thousands of homes may get flooded and many families will be affected. In addition, businesses may be affected because of structural damage. Then the State and Government will have to help pay to fix the damages and provide support for the people.

- Feces-filled sewage flooded the streets. The city did nothing for 10 days, records show.
- Sewage water flooded parts of South Florida, but it wasn’t your ordinary sewage water. This water was filled feces (throws up) and the city didn’t do anything about it for 10 days. This shows you the poor management skills of the officials who run the area.
- The problem presented in the article is the feces infested water. And the other problem is the fact that city officials didn’t do anything about it for 10 days.
- This problem affects multiple people. Businesses near the feces water are losing customers because it stinks. Also, residents that live near the water could possibly get sick.

- UF makes huge change in graduation ceremony. Thousands of Gators don't like it.
- The University of Florida made some big changes to their graduation and many students are upset about it. Students have made a petition that received 8,800 signatures. UF says that what happened at the last graduation was a catalyst for a system they were already planning to change.
- The problem is that instead of the traditional graduation with all the students in the O’Connell, UF plans on splitting it into two ceremonies instead of one. One ceremony will have every graduate and then next ceremony will be split by college.
- Families and students will be facing the problem. Some ceremonies aren’t on the same day so students will have to get dressed for graduation twice for the full graduation experience and parents will have to go to both to see their student.

- Fire drills and false alarms are re-traumatizing Stoneman Douglas students, teachers
- Sad news for the student of Stoneman Douglas. A series of fire alarms have been going off at the school traumatizing the students again. Now students and teachers are cautious when fire alarms go off and now wait 10-15 minutes.
- The problem is the consistent fire alarms going off at the school. It’s traumatizing the students and now they can’t focus on their schoolwork.
- Students, teachers, and parents are all affected by this problem. It make it difficult for students to focus on their work and even harder to get teachers to do their job when students aren’t paying attention

- Florida is on pace to set a new tourist record. Miami's numbers are up, too.
- Exciting news for the state of Florida. More people are visiting the state more than ever. The state is on pace to break last year’s record of 118.5 million tourists with a project 125 million for this year.
- The problem is that with so many tourists visiting the state there may not be enough workers to handle the traffic.
- However, this problem may be beneficial because this allows for more jobs to be created which it turns benefits the people and the economy of the state
Hey Kyle great list of local opportunities! I also read about the University of Florida’s hopes to change the graduation ceremony. I do not agree with this because I do not believe it is fair because graduates will have to dress up twice and parents will have to attend two ceremonies. This makes the graduation process complicated and not how traditional ceremonies are held. I believe that if there are enough signatures to reverse this change, the University will revert it back to the original way.
ReplyDeleteKyle, I think you chose very relevant and important articles to do this assignment on. I am from Miami so I am so happy to hear that my city is thriving! I am also very curious to know which city in South Florida had that sewage issue. Before reading this post, I hadn't heard anything about it. However, I had heard and read about the possible change in the UF graduation ceremony.
